Projects

Dissertation Research: Estimation of Stature Through Cephalo-Facial Dimensions in West Bengal Population

2023-2024

Conducted an anthropometric research study involving 200 adult participants (100 males, 100 females; age 18–25 years) from North 24-Parganas, West Bengal, to examine the relationship between craniofacial dimensions and human stature. Collected and analysed nine cephalo-maxillofacial measurements, and applied statistical analysis and linear regression modelling to develop formulae for stature estimation from craniofacial measurements, relevant to forensic human identification. Evaluated sexual dimorphism in craniofacial parameters, identifying significant variation in bigonial breadth between male and female subjects.

Review Paper: Scientific Analysis of Trace Evidence in Forensics

2023-2024

Reviewed analytical techniques for soil, glass, paint, fibers, inks, condoms, and gunshot residue (GSR) in forensic investigations. Evaluated modern instrumental and non-destructive analytical methods for multi-evidence trace analysis. Analyzed implementation challenges in forensic laboratories, including cost, accreditation, casework efficiency, and quality management.

State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) Belgachia, West Bengal, India

Conducted instrumental analysis of forensic samples using Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS) for chemical identification and toxicological evaluation. Performed High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) for the detection and analysis of toxicological compounds in biological matrices. Executed solvent extraction and sample preparation techniques for isolating toxicants from biological evidence following standard forensic protocols. Applied distillation, chromatographic separation, and classical chemical screening tests for the qualitative detection of toxic substances. Assisted in analytical examination and processing of forensic exhibits, contributing to toxicological case evaluations. Maintained chain-of-custody documentation and laboratory records to ensure integrity and traceability of evidentiary samples. Gained practical training in the Forensic Toxicology Division, supporting medico-legal casework and laboratory documentation procedures.

Forensic Science Intern

April 2025 – April 2025

Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) Rudrapur, Uttrakhand, India

Analyzed narcotic substances and biological evidence from sexual assault cases in the chemical and biological divisions. Performed forensic screening and laboratory analysis to assist in evidentiary evaluation and case investigations. Prepared analytical reports and case documentation based on laboratory findings. Successfully completed the Forensic Science Development Program, receiving certification for practical training in forensic laboratory techniques.

Forensic Science Intern
